Environmental Impact Assessment    

Environmental Assessment Given the proposed project has a project capacity that is greater than 2 MW, it is subject to an environmental assessment under the Nova Scotia Environmental Assessment Regulations. As such, SWEB Energy is currently conducting desktop and field studies as part of the environmental assessment process with specific attention paid to the following environmental attributes and studies:

  • Terrestrial Vegetation
  • Shadow Flicker
  • Land Use
  • Surface Hydrology
  • Wildlife including Birds and Bats
  • Visual Aesthetics
  • Local Economy
  • Fish and Fish Habitat
  • Species of Conservation Concern
  • Electromagnetic Interference
  • Wetlands
  • Noise
  • Heritage and Archaeological Resources

  

Throughout the environmental assessment process, SWEB Energy and its partners will host public meetings to allow for discussion and feedback from various stakeholders. As well, project-specific studies and updates regarding the environmental assessment process will be made available on the project website upon completion.
